Getting through the fog

This morning, I woke up to run, and it looked like this outside:

It felt like I woke up in a hazy dream. Or San Francisco. Or both.

As I drove to meet my friends for our beach run, all I could do was follow whatever markers I could see ahead of me:

  • The traffic light
  • The lines on the road just ahead
  • My best instincts about what I know of early morning road traffic

Sometimes our work is like that. Hazy, unclear, a bit… out of focus. You know where you want to go, but you’re not sure how to get there.

You know what you want to achieve, but you’re not quite sure how to get started.

In those times, all you can do is your best. Take baby steps and feel your way through. Find help – a few road markers. Maybe someone (a mentor) who’s gone before you. Look for resources to provide inspiration or a map. When you’re feeling a bit lost, even part of the map will do.

It’s then up to you to decide how much is relevant, and what you can discard. It’s up to you to follow your best instincts…or challenge them…to get you to your desired end point.

And once the fog has cleared, and you’ve got a few road markers to help guide your path, it’s (somewhat) sunny skies ahead.

If you need some resources to help guide your way, meet my friend and mentor Selena Soo. She’s a brilliant publicity + business strategist who helped me guide my own business from 0 to a healthy 5 figures in just a few months. I continue to look to her as I grow further.

I’m sharing one of her best resources, Get VIP Access to Media, Influencers + Online Stars, for a limited time. It’s a free training and worth the time to review and take some great notes.
