Start Where You Are

I started the morning with a lovely bit of inspiration, from one of my favorite Muppets, Kermit the Frog, in his first ever TED talk. I’d like to share it with you here, with thanks to Muppetmindset, for posting it!

If you don’t have 23 minutes to watch, just bookmark the page and come back to it.

This one is for all my disenfranchised desk jockeys, and my friends who are on the verge of giving up on their dreams. Don’t.  This one is for my friends who dream of “something better,” even if they aren’t sure what that “something better” looks like right now. Even if the 3.5 walls of your cube feel like they’re closing in on you, there’s a way out and through it: By Starting, right where you are.

Maybe you’re waking up a little earlier to work on that writing project you’ve always dreamed of, or staying up a little later to brainstorm that app that has been flirting with the edges of your imagination. The Day Job is exactly what it sounds like: a Day Job. A means to an end. Not your entire identity or your reason for being. Whatever it is you’re doing – even it’s doing the work of figuring out what your passion is – Start Where You Are.

What will you start doing today?
